The Master Store Display Book
The official historical archive of the 1962–63 Barbie Master Store Display. This 77-page full-color collector reference documents the remarkable 1962–63 Barbie Master Store Display through original photography, detailed descriptions, historical information and years of research. Created as far more than an auction catalog, this publication preserves the story of an extraordinary piece of Barbie retail history. The display represents the way Mattel presented Barbie, Ken and their world to retailers and customers during the early years of the brand. The book documents the display itself along with its dolls, fashions, accessories, gift sets, packaging, signage and merchandising details. Each section was photographed and researched to create a lasting visual and historical record for collectors. Special attention is given to the history of Mattel’s retail merchandising, dealer materials and the way these large store displays were assembled and used. Because displays of this size were generally temporary retail fixtures, very few survived intact.
