March 12, 2010 Some bits 'n pieces: The Louboutin Shoe Pak will consist of nine pairs of shoes....The new 2010 Holiday Barbie will have a new arm/hand sculpt with separated fingers...News on Mad Man dolls - the male dolls will have painted/molder hair per the request of the show's creator Matt Weiner. This set is the first licensed themed set created in the Silkstone line - all the dolls in the line with the exception of the ravishing redhead will have the the classic beige skintone....Flashdance will be a Mackie face close mouth doll and will come on a pivotal body...The Basics line will have two more shoe paks and a Fashion Accessory Pak this fall. There will be a Target Exclusive (sigh) of the Basics in their own special RED dress. It will include dolls 1, 3 and 8 and will include an accessory pak and a special red and white accessory pak....Heads up Twilight Fans - look for Ashley Green AKA Alice due out this fall...Another 70's icon is scheduled for 2011! Following three successful seasons of 'Mad Men,' Mattel plans to bring out versions of Barbie and Ken styled after four of the show's characters. The collectors' series will include Don Draper, the show's leading man; his wife, Betty; his colleague at the Sterling Cooper agency, Roger Sterling; and Joan Holloway, the agency's office manager who was Roger's mistress, NY Times reports. The dolls are scheduled to be released in July to promote the fourth season of 'Mad Men,' which will begin that month on AMC.

February 17, 2010 We just posted some additional Barbie Basics doll that are new to the line. Take a look! We have heard from some other sources that attended Toy Fair that there will be a Christian Louboutin Shoe Pack available - we will post details as we receive confirmation. Toy Fair news will be posted as we receive bits and pieces - starting off new to the Barbie line is Barbie Video Girl. The doll features a working video camera embedded into her necklace that projects live color images to a screen on her back. The $50 doll will hit stores in the summer; footage from her camera can also be uploaded and edited on a computer. February 1, 2010 We just read the following and wanted to share as Richard did an awesome job at Mattel. We wish him all the best! Richard Dickson, head of Mattel’s Barbie business, is leaving the toymaker to head to clothing retailer Jones Apparel Group as president and CEO, JAG said today.
Dickson, 41, joined Mattel in 2000 as Senior Vice President, Marketing, Media & Entertainment Worldwide, Mattel Brands. In 2008 he was tapped to oversee a newly reorganized Barbie business as General Manager for the overall Barbie brand. He’s widely recognized for revitalizing the iconic doll line and its licensing.
Prior to Mattel, Dickson held leadership, general management and
merchandising posts at Bloomingdales and at Estee Lauder Companies, which in
2000 purchased an ecommerce site, Gloss.com, that Dickson had launched.
****** Barbie is back, posting her biggest sales increase in years. Mattel Inc.'s iconic doll and a big improvement in overall profitability helped the largest U.S. toy maker generate an 86% increase in fourth-quarter profit, topping analysts' estimates. Mattel executives on Friday expressed optimism about the company's 2010 revenue prospects, citing strong sales of such toys as Barbie's townhouse, Matchbox and the holiday sell-out Mind Flex game, as well as an improved lineup of toys based on movies and television shows. As part of the CFDA's (Council of Fashion Designers of America) partnership with Mattel's Barbie, designers have customized a Barbie Basic doll -- who dons a little black dress -- with shoes, bags, jewelry and more in their trademark styles. The Fashion Queen Barbie Reproduction Doll, Alice and Victoria from Twilight are not confirmed. We don't want any disappointed customers, and will be sure to post as soon as this information is confirmed from Mattel.
